About the Position
The College of International and Extended Studies (CIES) offers programs dedicated to Access, International Programs, and Innovation. CIES' programs provide access to San José State University courses, degrees and certificates for students in Silicon Valley and from around the world.
Within the College, the department of International Student and Scholar Services provides immigration advising to international undergraduate and graduate students and to Exchange Visitor Scholars attending San José State University.
Working independently under the general supervision of the Director of International Student and Scholar Services, and receiving work direction from the Assistant Director of International Student Advising, the International Student Advisor (ISA) provides direct service to students and scholars; offer administrative and technical support; facilitate programming; interact with faculty, administrators, staff, and off-campus agencies. These areas often overlap in the fulfillment of responsibilities.
Responsibilities and Tasks but not limited:

1. Advise international students and scholars regarding F-1 and J-1

immigration issues

2. Serve as authorized staff member, DSO, for the immigration tracking and monitoring system, SEVIS.

3. Work collaboratively to plan programs that enhance international education at SJSU.
