Position Title: Assistant Professor, Educational Administration and Leadership Studies





 Primary Function: Expertise is needed for an individual to teach and mentor in at least two of the following areas: Leadership for Adult development; Superintendency; School-board Relations; and Organizational Change. Possible courses to be taught by the person in this position are: EDAS 7820 (Leadership for Adult Development); EDAS 7250 (Board of Education and Superintendent Relations); EDAS 7350 (Integrated Leadership in Educational Organizations); EDAS 7330 (Collective Bargaining); and EDLS 7010 (Organizational Change).  Position would also teach masters level and undergraduate courses. Experience in developing and teaching online graduate courses is necessary. The individual would advise graduate students, serve on doctoral dissertation committees, develop a strong research agenda, and contribute to service opportunities that support the mission of the school and college.





 Required Professional Qualifications:





  • A doctoral degree in educational administration, leadership studies, educational leadership and policy, or other related field, completed by July 31, 2013.

  • A demonstrated record of or potential for scholarly achievement in educational administration and leadership studies. 


  • A demonstrated record of or potential for effective teaching, including the ability to work collaboratively with other program faculty in the delivery of instruction, program development, and other services. Teaching experience at the graduate level is preferred. 


  • Teaching and administrative experience in a pre K-12 educational context are preferred.


  • Knowledge of and practice with principalship and superintendency licensure standards at the state and national levels (e.g., ELCC, ISLLC, etc.) are preferred.


  • Experience with one or more of the following: quantitative research, qualitative research, mixed-methods research, and alternative research methodologies.


  • A strong research and teaching interest in at least two of the following areas: Leadership for Adult development; Superintendency; School-board Relations; and Organizational Change.


  • A willingness to pursue external funding for research.






  •  Salary:    Competitive and commensurate with peer institution levels for rank and position and in keeping with candidate experience and credentials.
