The Department of Residential Facilities provides facilities management services for over 2.3 million square feet of residence hall, Greek chapter and recreational facilities at the College Park Campus of the University of Maryland. 





General Description of Duties:  The position reports to the Assistant Director, Facilities Maintenance, and is responsible for development and oversight of preventive maintenance schedules and operations, as well as oversight of the departments small scale renovation program.  Position will assist in the implementation of the new computerized work order system, and will help develop key reports to help managers collect and review work/performance data.  Position will assist in the collection, review and prioritization of annual maintenance projects, and will be responsible for annual preventive maintenance programs - storm drainage, chillers and cooling towers, etc.  Position will spearhead investigations into problems that affect student living conditions and develop strategies to resolve these problems.  Position will supervise student inventory crew, and will oversee the sections hazardous materials program and snow removal operations.  Position will supervise unit operations in the absence of the Assistant Director.





Qualifications:  Bachelors degree required, preferably in public administration, construction management, architecture or engineering.  Five to seven years in facilities management with at least two years supervising/managing a facilities operation.  Prefer candidates with experience in a public institution of comparable size and complexity.  Successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational, technical writing, problem solving and communication skills; thorough knowledge of commercial/institutional building trades and preventive maintenance activities. 





Salary and Benefits:  Starting salary in low to upper $70,00s.  22 days of annual/vacation leave, 14 paid holidays and 15 days of sick leave provided annually.  Tuition remission up to 8 credits per semester.  Eligibility to participate in group health insurance, prescription drug, life insurance and retirement programs.
