DESCRIPTION:
The Business & Technology Division is seeking a full­time Computer Information Systems instructor who has expertise in computer networking and cyber security; Unix/Linux; database administration; computer hardware; server operating systems; and business computer applications. Additionally, the successful candidate will serve as an integral part of the department, strengthening partnerships with local businesses and educational institutions by incorporating emerging business communication technologies, including forensics, penetration testing, into the curriculum. Assignments may include day, evening, and weekend courses at the Monterey campus, Marina Education center, other sites in the community, as well as online instruction.

Full­time faculty have responsibilities outside the classroom through contributions to the department, division, and the college, which include curriculum development and assessment and participation in student outreach, retention, and success. Faculty are encouraged to engage in campus life and become involved in college committees.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
As a full time faculty member in the Business & Technology Division, the successful candidate will:

- Develop and teach a variety of face­to­face, hybrid, and online courses that incorporate effective teaching and assessment methods to engage a diverse student population and support students' transition to career or further studies.
- Explore curriculum integration with other MPC programs and engage in activities that enhance the department's collaboration with local high schools, other colleges, and industry partners­­including developing and maintaining relationships with local industry partners; participating in advisory board meetings; developing educational pathways; and organizing student clubs, competitions, and special programs.
- Continue professional development and remain current in the field through coursework, conferences, workshops, and other appropriate means and contribute to the development and modernization of the curricula to keep pace with emerging trends in industry.
- Perform other duties as described in Board policy, the Faculty Handbook, the MPCTA Contract, including, but not limited to: maintaining and submitting accurate records according to published deadlines (i.e., grades, syllabi, census reports); holding required office hours; attending division meetings; working cooperatively with colleagues (within discipline and college­wide) on matters regarding course offerings, programs, and activities that would enhance the development of the department; supporting student recruitment and retention; and participation in participatory governance committees and campus life activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any bachelor's degree AND two years of experience in the field; OR Any associate's
degree AND six years of experience in the field; OR the equivalent.*
A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desirable Qualifications:
A Master's degree in Computer Science, or the equivalent Two or more years of professional experience in computer networking, security, information systems and/or computer service technology Demonstrated evidence of the ability to teach in a community college setting and/or at the postsecondary level Demonstrated evidence of the ability to develop curricula for diverse learning styles Demonstrated evidence of the ability to conduct higher education outreach and recruitment for low income, first­ generation college, ethnic minority students and/or students with disabilities Experience in the development of web and mobile applications.

Desirable Certifications:
The following certifications, or their equivalent experience, are desirable but not required for applicants to this position:

- CompTIA A+TM Certification or other similar certifications
- CompTIA Linux+TM Certification or other similar certifications Certified Ethical Hacking (CEH)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing & Switching (CCNA­R&S) Forensics Certification(s)
- Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) and/or Microsoft
- Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

WORK SCHEDULE / SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
Anticipated Starting Compensation
Initial salary placement is based on the current full­time salary schedule and on verification of education and experience. Starting salary is $48,814.00 ­ $71,235.00 annually. In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate can also earn a Doctoral stipend of $2,881 or a multiple Masters' stipend of $2,043.

Assignment & Anticipated Start Date
The assigned work year is 175.5 days per academic year. The assignment will include 15 teaching load units (TLUs) plus five office hours per week. The selected candidate will participate in campus wide events beginning the week of August 16, 2017. Semester begins August 18, 2017.
