The Departments of English and Communications at Albright College, a dynamic liberal arts college in Reading, PA, invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in American Cultural Studies. We seek an energetic, theoretically sophisticated and interdisciplinary teacher and scholar with a strong commitment to invigorating the College's cross-disciplinary humanities course offerings. Candidates with scholarly expertise and teaching interests in American cultural studies using intersectional approaches, such as frameworks of race, gender, and sexuality, are particularly of interest. Candidates should specialize broadly in American studies and incorporate comparative and transnational frameworks relative to multiple communities or issues—African American, South Asian American, Arab American, Latino/a American, etc. We are especially interested in candidates who can teach media criticism, literary journalism or creative nonfiction. This is one-year appointment with an expected start date of August 15, 2017. A PhD in any relevant field in the humanities is required prior to appointment. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching and research.
