The University of Kentucky (UK) College of Medicine is committed to expanding and enhancing efforts to recruit and retain faculty that contribute to a diverse and accessible learning and research environment. As part of this commitment, we plan to use the College of Medicine Map to Impact through a Transdisciplinary Strategy (COMMITS) Hiring Initiative to recruit faculty at any rank, thereby strengthening the research and academic environment by expanding perspectives and experiences within the College of Medicine. Pursuant to the College's established hiring processes, faculty recruited under this initiative will receive tenure-track appointments in departments relevant to their research focus. The college is home to 25 departments, 20 centers, and 21 research alliances. Signature areas of research include neuroscience, cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity, infection and immunity, and drug addiction and substance use. These areas among the broader research portfolio make for a vibrant, dynamic, and collaborative academic and research environment where all members will excel.



The UK College of Medicine is contiguous with the Colleges of Dentistry, Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Nursing; and connected to the UK HealthCare enterprise, which includes four hospitals, more than 80 specialized clinics, and more than 140 outreach programs. In addition to the health-related colleges, the College of Medicine is adjacent to the Colleges of Arts and Sciences and the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment. The proximity of these various colleges allows for close collaboration and a trans-disciplinary approach to science and research. College of Medicine academic units and researchers are committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and dialogue among faculty with a range of interests and innovative methodological approaches. As the leading medical/ biomedical institution within the Commonwealth, the College of Medicine and UK HealthCare provide a strong infrastructure for translational research with well-established and unique patient populations.



Responsibilitiesof the position include pursuing an active research program in the candidate's area of specialization, teaching,and contributing to the service mission of the home department.A competitive salary and start-up package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
