The University of Nebraska at Omaha, School of the Arts, Art and Art History program invites application for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in graphic design/media arts with an emphasis upon website and digital design. We seek a candidate with a strong professional record, previous teaching experience at the university level, and a commitment to teaching undergraduates of diverse backgrounds. Responsibilities include teaching all levels of design coursework; academic advising for students within the graphic design concentration; and engaging in service activities of an urban metropolitan university. Additional responsibilities may include supervision of undergraduate research (a capstone/thesis is required of graphic design concentration students in both the BASA and BFA degree), internships and collaborative opportunities with the Book Arts and Illustration concentrations. A typical semester course workload at UNO is 12 hours. Start date for this position is August 16, 2022. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and credentials.

This position requires an MFA terminal degree in Art, Visual Communication or Graphic Design, or Master in Design Studies (MDes) or MA in related field. All candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of experience as a creative professional as well as strong evidence of senior-level contribution to their practice (i.e., candidates should have professional experience as a designer, art director, creative director or principal). Additionally, candidates should have a commitment to teaching excellence, collegiality and departmental, college and university service and have authorization to work in the United States.
