Assistant Professor of History

Basic Function:
The successful candidate will teach 6 history courses per year, will advise students and student projects (including humanities projects and WPI's junior-year interdisciplinary project), will actively pursue a research agenda, and will serve on faculty committees.

Responsibilities:
Worcester Polytechnic Institutes Humanities and Arts Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in history starting in August 2019. We seek candidates in America in the World, with the ability to teach courses on American history and international and global studies.

Faculty in the Humanities and Arts are established scholars in their fields and play a significant role in the universitys nationally known project-based curriculum and global studies program. WPIs network of more than 40 project centers offers unique opportunities for off-campus project advising. Faculty also collaborate with various regional institutions, including Worcesters WICN Public Radio, the Worcester Art Museum, Harvard Medical School, Berklee College of Music, Worcester Historical Museum, and UMass Medical School. WPIs multidisciplinary Humanities & Arts Department offers a distinctive general education program in which 25% of undergraduates focus on history, with lecture and discussion courses and inquiry seminars with substantial research and writing.

Qualifications:
Promise of teaching excellence and strong evidence of scholarly potential required. Candidates must have Ph.D. before August 2019.
