Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; occasional early morning, evening and weekend hours; this is a temporary position to end on or before June 30, 2020 with a possibility of renewal on an annual basis if program needs exist.

About the Position:
The Mihaylo College of Business and Economics is committed to the guiding themes of program quality, balancing theory and practice and expanding our outreach and visibility. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Business Advisor (Student Services Professional I). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Dean, Academic Services, the Business Advisor provides academic advisement and support to undergraduate students in the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics. Advises prospective, newly admitted, and continuing undergraduate students on their major degree requirements, course selection, evaluation of transcripts, and general university policies and procedures. Advises students on academic probation. Assists with the development of Mihaylo College retention programs. Assists with graduation checks. Provides advisement to students with special needs and in programs including Business Honors, Finish in Four, and Freshmen Programs. Coordinates and participates in outreach activities as assigned. Manages assigned population of students and coordinates activities and intervention strategies based on their needs. Works with existing programs to encourage cross campus collaboration of resources and finds innovative means to facilitate retention and graduation. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration or a job-related field plus one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Equivalent amounts of job-related, graduate level education may be substituted for the required experience. Working knowledge of the methods and problems of organization and program management. Working knowledge of research techniques, interview techniques, and the principles of individual and group behavior. Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations, gather and analyze data, reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations. Ability to present clear and concise information orally and in written reports. Ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures and activities and the overall organization. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
