The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, Clark County, is recruiting for a full-time Community Based Instructor 3 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Community Based Instructor 3 primary responsibility will be to oversee the nutrition garden program and assist policy, systems and environmental (PSE) strategies opportunities for the sites implementing gardens. This position will facilitate direct education, coordinate with garden sites, train and support garden site staff, assist in developing and piloting lesson plans, and carry out PSE work. The Community Based Instructor 3 will collaborate with the Program Officer 1 and community partners, in planning seasonal plantings, maintenance, and harvests of all assigned sites. This position will work to develop, pilot, teach, compile, and organize lesson plans as part of a formalized curriculum developed by Extension Faculty. The Community Based Instructor 3 will facilitate garden, nutrition, and physical activity education tied to the STEAM curricula as it relates to the increase of fruit and vegetable consumption. This position will also lead tasting activities and cooking demonstrations to increase consumption of fruits and vegetables among participants and other duties as assigned.
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
