Maximum Salary: $127,686.62 annually ($90,367.30 maximum entry level)

Location: CC-Main Campus, Ridgecrest

Basic Function:
This position will be located at the Cerro Coso Community College, Ridgecrest Campus, in partnership with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the two correctional facilities at California City and Tehachapi.

This is a full-time, tenure-track, 185-day position as a community college Counselor.

Under the direction of the Director of Counseling and SSSP, the Counselor provides academic, vocational and career counseling to all students in all educational programs and assists with coordination and implementation of the college's Student Success, Equity and Guided Pathway goal. This position may include a combination of day or evening assignments and will require providing counseling/advising to the incarcerated student population. Tasks will include counseling/advising/teaching via traditional office/classroom environment and/or via integrated television, and/or online, primarily at the Indian Wells Valley campus in Ridgecrest and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation correctional facility at California City.

The Counselor will participate in orientation/counseling sessions, classroom presentations, workshops, assessment interpretations, outreach activities, and liaison duties with academic departments, assist in developing and implementing necessary retention programs for at risk students to meet the needs and support the advancement of the vision, mission and values of Cerro Coso Community College. This assignment may include teaching and/or counseling at other campus sites, day, evening or weekend assignments, teaching large classes or offering workshops and the ability to use multiple teaching methodologies.

Education and Experience:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling,
OR The equivalent. Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for these positions. Candidates who feel they possess such equivalent qualifications must request and submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form. Supporting documents must be included with the completed form.
AND A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Teach counseling or personal development classes.
Serve on college-wide committees.
Serve as liaison to community agencies and local employers.
Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
Demonstrate versatility in instructional methodology and technology and the ability to serve diverse student populations.
Plan, develop, and implement course curricula including curricula to be delivered via distance learning.
Update course materials and course outlines of record.
Develop, maintain, and assess student learning outcomes.
Maintain a current syllabus and provide current course orientation materials for each assigned course.
Post and maintain scheduled office hours.
Attend and actively contribute to meetings or activities pertinent to faculty responsibilities or assignments including but not limited to department meetings, advisory committee meetings, and academic senate.
Use media aids, the library, and other resources as appropriate.
Maintain currency in subject matter and developments in the field.

Salary Grade: Initial placement for all new faculty hires shall be Step 1, Class will range from 1-5 depending on earned degree.
