Director, Learning Assistance Center

Salary: Salary based on experience and education.

Department: Learning Assistance Center

Time Base/Hours/Units per Week: Full-time/40 hours per week.

Position Description: Within the Division of Academic Affairs, the Learning Assistance Center (LAC) serves as the university's centralized instructional support facility providing learning enhancement services for university, college, departmental and program-based academic requirements. The Director is responsible for overall management of the LAC and for assisting all campus constituencies in identifying and meeting the learning needs of students. The Director is also responsible for providing a unified vision of the LAC and raising visibility of the center throughout the campus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong oral, written, and cross-cultural communication skills. Excellent leadership skills and the ability to supervise a large staff. Ability to collaborate across campus divisions and units, and interact with multiple levels of an organization. Ability to develop and implement multiple academic support programs. Proven ability to manage in a high pressure, time sensitive environment. Familiarity with technologies associated with academic support, including student databases, managing data, and online support systems.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience: Graduate degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D preferred) in Education, Humanities, or Social Science or another discipline related to the development of student learning. A minimum of five years of experience in an academic support unit with progressively higher responsibilities. Experience managing a large program involving planning and evaluation. Experience working with a diverse student body.
