Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Maintenance Repair Worker 2 position for the Facilities Maintenance Services Department. This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of interior lighting systems and custodial equipment. Duties include, but are not limited to: installing, replacing, and repairing lighting fixtures and components, including exit and emergency lighting; replacing light ballasts, including electronic ballasts, performing preventative maintenance on fixtures, and retrofit existing light fixtures; diagnosing, maintaining and repairing custodial equipment as needed; performing preventative maintenance on damaged or worn batteries, tires, brushes, belts, and motors; maintaining necessary parts needed for repair of equipment; inventorying equipment, supplies, and parts quarterly; and maintaining logs on equipment repaired and location of equipment. Required Qualifications
Two years of building, grounds and equipment maintenance experience in performing semi-skilled building/grounds and equipment maintenance work; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

A valid Class C driver's license or higher operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with prior electrical experience are encourage to apply.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
This position is part of the Facilities Services Weather Essential Personnel and may be required to report to work for their regularly scheduled shift without any phone/cell phone notification; and is subject to a variable workweek schedule.

This position requires walking or standing to a significant degree; pushing and/or pulling; exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; requires good physical dexterity when handling supplies and equipment; working with and around hazardous building materials containing asbestos and solvents; frequent lifting, climbing, moving, and installing of heavy objects, many in awkward or high locations; and exposure to hot and cold temperatures when working outside.

Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.
