Position Statement:


Candidates are sought with expertise in emerging and transformative areas of water resources and sustainable & resilient water infrastructure, and who also have interests in collaborative research. Potential areas of research interest include but are not limited to water resources, hydrological systems, ecohydrology, water security, water and adaptation to climate change, sustainable & resilient water systems, impacts of climate change on water systems, satellite and radar remote sensing, and land-atmosphere interactions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


The successful applicant will: 1) establish an externally funded research program in water resources and sustainable & resilient water infrastructure and related areas; 2) advise, mentor, train, and support graduate and undergraduate students in research and professional development; 3) work with regional and government agencies on basic and applied research; 4) work on interdisciplinary teams to tackle pressing problems in water resources and sustainable & resilient water infrastructure; and 5) promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the discipline, Department, and University.

Qualifications Required:



  • An earned doctoral degree in civil engineering or a closely related field

  • Promise in success in securing competitive external funding

  • Success in scientific/engineering research demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications

  • Capacity and ability for excellence in teaching and mentoring

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the discipline, Department, and University

  • Hold a PE license or the ability to obtain one.
