Sr. Program Manager

Job Summary

The Sr. Program Manager for the Office of Transformative Student Experiences provides cross-cohort leadership and operational oversight for student success cohort programs serving low-income, first-generation, and high-achieving undergraduate students. This position functions as the Director's primary partner in ensuring operational excellence, consistent program delivery, and cohesive student support across the Opportunity Scholars Program, First Ascent Scholars, Rising Business Leaders programs, as well as OTSE led school-wide initiatives for first-generation, international, and Veteran students within the David Eccles School of Business.

In partnership with the Director and program managers, the Sr. Program Manager fosters student success by fosters student success by ensuring smooth transition into the university, connecting students to academic and personal support resources, encouraging engagement in transformative learning opportunities, and supporting on-time graduation. The Senior Program Manager manages systems and data; provides strategic input in the areas of recruitment, programming, and assessment; and offers mentorship and guidance to program managers.

Responsibilities
  • Manages and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the cohort programs to ensure alignmetnt across office processes, policies, and student support structures.
  • Provides mentorship and peer support to program managers, helping develop consistency in student coaching, communication, and programming approaches.
  • Ensure students' needs are met by managing logistical oversight of U of U student platforms and scheduling management systems (e.g. Canvas, NavigateU, Salesforce).
  • Support the design and implementation of student programming and educational events that enhance leadership, academic, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with program managers to develop and execute recruitment and retention strategies for students across all cohorts.
  • Provides individualized coaching for a small caseload of high-need or escalated students.
  • Works as lead partner with Marketing & Communication to develop a communications strategy across all cohort programs.
  • Foster collaboration across programs to reduce silos, align resources, and ensure consistency in program quality.
  • Ensure students across programs successfully transition to the university environment and have access to necessary resources to be successful (tutoring, academic advising, career coaching, and technology support).
  • Nurtures collaborative relationships with Eccles Schools and university community members to connect students with opportunities for deep learning and expansion of network.
  • Helps build student pathways throughout undergraduate student offices, resources, events and opportunities in the David Eccles School of Business.
  • Works with the Director to assess and collect data across all programs to measure program impact, outcomes, and scholarship effectiveness, and uses results to drive continuous improvement.
  • As requested, collaborates with the Director to prepare data, stories, and impact reports.
  • Partners with Eccles Undergraduate Programs to design and implement retention-focused initiatives that enhance belonging and persistence.
  • May be asked to participate as an ex-officio member of the different Board of Advisors.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
  • Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience.
  • Background knowledge of hiring department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.
  • Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required.
  • Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.



Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences
  • MEd or Master's degree in Education, Business, Policy and Public Administration, Communication, or similar.
  • 4+ years of experience working with undergraduate students
  • 4+ years of experience in project or program management, preferably in collaboration with academic, industry, and community entities.
  • 4+ years of experience supervising or mentoring students.
  • Understanding of how to apply student development theory to programmatic and curricular-focused trainings and events.
