About the Position:
The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is committed in educating students to be culturally, globally, socially, historically and environmentally astute, civically responsible alumni able to navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected world. The English Comparative Literatures and Linguistics department is seeking an exceptional individual to join the team as an Administrative Support Coordinator I. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Administrative Support Coordinator I for English, Comparative Literatures, and Linguistics supports the graduate program in the English and Linguistics departments along with secondary front office support. The Administrative Support Coordinator I works independently with graduate students to explain program policies, procedures, and acts as a liaison between the department and the graduate studies office, coordinating communication between the two. Verifies Master's degree candidates list. Responsible for processing travel and reimbursement documents, along with organizing and supporting office operations. Responsible for hiring Instructional Student Assistants (ISAs) for the Writing Center each semester. Processes timesheets for Writing Center ISAs and department student assistants each month. Develops and implements the distribution for the student opinion questionnaires (SOQs). Oversees the Student Assistants in the department. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
High School diploma or the equivalent and four years of progressively responsible experience in general office, clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent. Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Thorough knowledge of office systems with the ability to use a range of technology, systems and software packages. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to perform standard business math including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and making simple projections. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports. Ability to handle effectively a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a higher education environment.
