Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for anAdministrative Assistant 3 in the Animal Resources Department. The position will provideadministrative support to the Animal Resources Director, the clinical veterinarian, other office personnel,and facultymembers in their daily work supporting the fully accredited campus-wide programs of animal research and teaching. Other duties include, but are not limited to: assisting with department human resources; providing cost-accounting, budget planning, and budget monitoring ; overseeing components of the program; designing and implementing data reports; communicating between various parts of the department; regularly using Excel spreadsheets; working directly with the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP); interpreting and providing information on rules and regulations for staff and researchers; coordinating the ordering of lab animals; maintaining internal records; and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with cost-accounting, budget planning, and budget monitoring experience are encouraged to apply.
Candidates with experience in using detailed spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel are encouraged to apply
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Department Information
The Department of Animal Resources provides campus-wide veterinary care, including for the livestock populations located on properties of the Nevada Experimental Agriculture Station (NAES). Our staff also provide daily husbandry and research services within the Center of Molecular Medicine facility, the Central Animal Facility, the Applied Research Facility and specific laboratory areas within the College of Science.
