Job Summary:
California State University, Fullerton is searching for an Assistant to the Chief of Operations. The incumbent should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the supervision and direction of the Chief of Operations, the Assistant to the Chief of Operations provides management and coordination of projects, research and reporting related to assessment and planning activities, and administrative support. The work involves interpreting and applying specific policies and procedures to organize, monitor, and perform the administrative activities and conducting research necessary to make recommendations for improvement. This position assists in editing proposals and reports, analysis of assessment data, and oversight for major publications produced out of the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA). The incumbent composes correspondence and reports, plans and coordinates a number of special projects. Trains, assigns duties, and provides lead oversight for special projects under the direction of the Chief of Operations. The incumbent also supports the Budget Manager by entering, processing and tracking procurement card reconciliation for the VPSA; serving as timekeeper for VPSA and back-up for the entire Division; entering and tracking requisitions and budget transfers in CFS; and preparing, processing and tracking budget documents for CSUF Auxiliaries. The incumbent also handles coordination and administration of procedure in event of student death. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs. Working knowledge of the general practices, program or administrative specialty. Basic knowledge of and the ability to apply fundamental concepts. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation. Ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages. Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting the applicable program, organizational unit or administrative specialty. Knowledge of and the ability to apply basic methods and procedures used for research and statistical analysis. Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques. Ability to make independent decisions, exercise sound judgment, handle multiple priorities, and organize and plan work assignments. Ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
