JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The System Engineering Program in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track/tenured faculty position.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The person selected for this faculty position will be responsible for teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses, providing leadership for the graduate programs in Systems Engineering, developing a research program related to his/her field of interest, and advising students including MS and PhD theses. In addition, the appointee will actively participate in strengthening the strong ties between WPI and its surrounding high-tech industries and will embark on establishing connections for System Engineering and/or Systems Thinking research. Additionally, the appointee will actively participate in the committee assignments and other activities that connect the Systems Engineering Program to the rest of the campus.

An earned Ph.D. in Systems Engineering or related engineering disciplines is required. Candidates should have strong research experience in the general areas of systems engineering, but not limited to: systems thinking, system modeling, complex systems, risk management, system safety, security and reliability. Candidates must be able to contribute to the teaching mission of the department, especially for the graduate degree programs in systems engineering. A record of excellence in scholarship evidenced by publications, as appropriate for the candidate's rank, and a commitment to build a research program is required. Appointment with tenure requires documented excellence in research and teaching, and a national reputation in his or her field of study.
