The Department of Theatre and Dance seeks a tenure-track, assistant, or associate professor in dance. Expected teaching responsibilities focus on beginning through advanced levels of contemporary modern dance technique and other approaches based on the candidate's expertise. Other teaching responsibilities include dance composition, dance history, or other coursework dependent on expertise, experience, and interest. Candidates with demonstrated success of teaching dance history and dance composition with racially, culturally and gender diverse content, and having a strong studio teaching practice are encouraged to apply. Further, candidates are expected to participate in creative research, choreographing for productions, academic advising, participation in recruitment, and other departmental activities. The candidate should expect to maintain an active role in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary dance and theatre programs. This will include both undergraduate and graduate levels as a member of the graduate faculty involving chairing or sitting on, project or theses committees. Required Qualifications

Doctoral or terminal degree in MFA or PhD in Dance. (If ABD, degree must be conferred on an official transcript and received in Human Resources by August 14, 2023.)
Experience teaching in the college/university setting
Experience teaching a variety of dance levels from novice to emerging young professionals.
Evidence of appropriate professional, creative and/or scholarly research activity in dance.
Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position including social justice and/or anti-racism."

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and/or presentation skills.
Ability to teach all levels of jazz dance and tap dance from an Africanist perspective.
Qualified to teach a dance form(s) form a non-western approach.
Evidence working with underrepresented and marginalized populations through community outreach and other areas of service."
