The Assistant Director of Occupancy Management provides strategic leadership and direction in the delivery of an array of services designed to enhance the experiences of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students residing in South Carolina Housing by collaborating with other South Carolina Housing, Residence Life, and university partners. The Assistant Director provides both administrative and functional supervision for South Carolina's Housing's Assignments team. The position is responsible for setting policy each year, in collaboration with the Senior Director of Administration, and designs operational procedures for managing applications, room/apartment assignments and contracts for approximately 10,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The Assistant Director handles eligibility requirements for prospective and current residents and manages requests for contract modification and termination. The position is the primary administrative liaison for professional colleagues across the institution on occupancy management related issues; the occupancy level of South Carolina Housing directly, and significantly impacts South Carolina Dining and Campus Life Facilities. The nature of the work is dynamic and requires an eye for detail as systems, policies, and data change from year to year.

Compensation is dependent upon experience and education.


Minimum Qualifications -
Master's degree in student services or related field and 3 years related experience, or bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience.
Experience in housing assignment-related work including housing applications and contracts.

Knowledge of South Carolina Housing policies and procedures.

Knowledge of South Carolina information systems (e.g., Banner, StarRez, Slate).

Experience working in a computerized Housing Management System environment.


Preferred Qualifications - Masters degree
3 years experience with progressive supervisory and administrative services experience in college housing
Knowledge of federal and state law in housing (e.g., Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Housing Act)
