Position Information:
The Department of Civil Engineering at California State University, Chico, is searching for a probationary tenure-track assistant to start August 18, 2020. California State University, Chico is seeking faculty who are competent in their field, excellent teachers, collaborative with colleagues and staff, and committed to student success.

Minimum Education and Experience:
The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is an earned doctorate in civil engineering (or a related field). Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate may be considered; however, the doctorate must be completed prior to August 17, 2020. Specific expertise is required in the field of structural engineering.

Additional Requirements and Responsibilities for this position:
Expertise/interest and ability to teach a variety of courses in the department is also required. The successful candidate should provide evidence of their commitment to or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds

Recruitment Preferences:
The following are preferred qualifications:

  • ability and interest in pursuing externally funded research and/or professional activity (demonstrated through previous accomplishments and/or publications).
  • demonstrated their ability as an effective teacher.
  • a bachelor of science in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program,
  • professional registration in Civil Engineering (any state) or the ability to obtain professional registration within a few years.
