California State University, Dominquez Hills invites applications and nominations for the following position: Associate Dean, University Library (Recruitment 3267)

Position Information
This is a full-time management (MPP) position. MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President. MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.

This position is a "designated position" in the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
45% - Library Operations
- Support the Dean in the overall administration of the University Library.
- Serve as delegated signature authority for personnel, budget/accounting, travel, leave, and student documents.
- As a member of the Library's management team, participate in decision making, policy development, and planning for respective units.
- Serve as communications link for the timely dissemination of information to faculty and staff.
- Represent the Dean on various committees and at University/College functions as requested by the Dean.
- Prepare a wide variety of documents on behalf of the Dean, including but not limited to: strategic planning, accreditation, annual reports, audits, salary analysis, and reorganizations.
- Prepare responses to external inquiries and requests for information.
- Serve as either chair or ex-officio member on the library's committees.
- Interact with various divisional offices and departments, such as Academic Affairs, Faculty Affairs, and Facilities Planning, as directed by the Dean.
- Perform other duties related to the general administration of the Library as assigned by the Dean of the University Library.

45% - Human Resources
- Manage and coordinate human resource functions for the Library.
- Consult with the Library Dean and managers in the allocation and development of positions.
- Coordinate hiring and search processes for all positions.
- Act as appointing authority for personnel documents related to classified, temporary employees and Letters of Appointment.
- Working closely with Human Resources and Faculty Affairs, draft documentation concerning performance problems, disciplinary actions, grievances, medical leaves, etc.
- Communicate personnel rules and relevant university and state policies and laws.
- Work with library faculty in the development of their annual Statement of Responsibilities and Goals and their year-end reflection and assessment of their progress and achievements.
- Provide library faculty with guidance and support in order to facilitate their successful advancement through the tenure and promotion process.

10% - Budget Management, Reporting, and Analysis
- Assist the Dean in the development and management of the library's budget.
- Assist the Dean in working with library leads to document proposals for spending and following up to ensure expenditures occur as planned.
- Serve as project manager for various library projects as assigned by the Dean.
- Gather and compile data for reports for the Dean, and develop/maintain reporting systems to generate data necessary for required reporting.
- Coordinate reporting to external agencies, such as Association of College and Research Libraries, Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), and CSU System Reports.

Qualifications
Required Education: Master's Degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association or certified equivalent.

Required Experience: Five years of relevant work experience, including three years of managerial experience, including budget experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- ALA-accredited MLIS or equivalent required.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in academic or research libraries, which includes a minimum of three years supervising the work of others.
- Sound grasp of current issues and trends in academic libraries, including digital scholarship, information literacy, emerging technologies for teaching and learning, collection development and management, high impact learning practices, and assessment of learning and services for continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated interest and skill in collaborating with individuals and groups within and beyond the library, across the campus, and in the broader regional and library professional communities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Record of innovative outreach to faculty and academic program leaders on campus.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and analytical skills; creative and innovative problem-solving skills; and a strong commitment to service excellence.
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and complete tasks and projects on time and within budget.
- Record of scholarship and service that are consistent with the library's criteria for tenure.
- Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively both independently and as a team leader and member.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work under pressure with competing demands.
- Ability to be proactive, flexible, and collaborative as a leader and senior administrator to set and accomplish strategic goals and priorities and to cultivate a collegial environment.
- Experience managing academic personnel and demonstrated collaborative team-building skills, including the ability to motivate, develop, and mentor others, and to welcome and support diverse ideas, cultures, and experiences.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment and workplace, and ability to work with a diverse student and faculty population and to respond effectively to changing needs and priorities.
- Experience managing departmental or unit budgets.
- Demonstrated record of participation in professional associations and a record of scholarly engagement, typically demonstrated through publications and presentations.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work under pressure with competing demands.
- Demonstrated understanding of established, new, and emerging technologies in delivering innovative services in academic or research libraries.
