Associate Vice President of Human Resources

St. Edward's University is seeking a proven strategic transformational leader for the Associate Vice President of Human Resources (AVPHR) position. The AVPHR leads, plans, and directs the full range of Human Resources functions and services including talent management, employee training and development, employee relations, benefits and compensation administration, employment law compliance, and human resources information systems. As a key member of the university administration, the AVPHR serves as a strategic advisor to leaders across the university and works for the pursuit of excellent customer service, efficiency, and human resources' best practices. The AVPHR reports to the Vice President of Finance and Administration.

The ideal candidate must be a well-organized and an exemplary communicative individual who can relate to people at all levels within the university. The ideal candidate will demonstrate commitment to achieving cultural diversity and equal opportunity. Working collaboratively with internal (faculty, staff, and student body) and external constituencies, the AVPHR must demonstrate the ability to analyze complex issues and relationships and provide direction and advice to the university community about sensitive and confidential issues related to job performance, complaints, grievances, and other related concerns.

For consideration, a Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher education is required along with ten years of relevant and progressively responsible management experience in a Human Resources leadership role. An advanced certification in PHR/SPHR, SHRM-SP or SHRM-SCP is highly preferred. Higher education experience and experience with large employee populations (1,000+) is also preferred. Knowledge of employment and labor laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, and ADA), EEO and Title IX regulations, enhancements or changes in health insurance, worker's compensation and other employee benefit programs is essential. This individual must be recognized for their integrity of the highest ethical standards, objectivity, and comprehensive organizational view. They must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer skills; with the ability to think analytically and strategically. Working knowledge of the human resources component of Banner preferred. The candidate must possess an unencumbered driver's license and the ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
