Job Summary
The University of Michigan, Department of Internal Medicine is seeking board certified/eligible candidates for a faculty position in the Division of Hospital Medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in patient care and teaching in our expanding Academic Hospital Medicine Group. Duties include teaching, providing direct patient care, and involvement in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. There are opportunities to work on tranditional general medicine services, in unique specialty concentrations (hematology/oncology, renal/transplant), as a full-time nocturnist or in our newly developed medical observation unit. The hospital medicine observation unit provides care for complex adult observation patients with medical issues and an expected length of stay of 24-48 hours. This unit incorporates mid-level providers as part of the medical team. Research opportunities and hospitalist investigator positions are also available for qualified candidates. Excellent benefits and compensation package with guaranteed salary plus incentive bonuses. Relocation support provided as well as up to $50,000 in loan forgiveness for qualifying education loans.

Required Qualifications*
The ideal candidate should have an M.D. or D.O. degree and postgraduate clinical training. They should hold or have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the State of Michigan as well as be board certified or board eligible. Candidates should be able to collaborate effectively with other clinicians. Excellent communication skills are essential. Evidence of clinical competence and and competence in clinical and didactic teaching is expected.
