    Synopsis of Role:
    The Disability and Technology Specialist is responsible for communicating with potential students, current students, faculty, and staff regarding disability services accommodations (DSA) related inquiries and for overseeing various outreach campaigns. The specialist will assist students with their technical needs by coordinating with other departments on the student's behalf to enhance their student experience. The specialist will support the director of disability services and catalog management with initiatives to help expand the visibility of the DSA office to students and faculty.

    Essential Functions:
    • Oversees multiple outreach campaigns for DSA students by phone and by email.
    • Answers incoming telephone calls and initiate outbound calls on DSA phone queue as needed.
    • Responds to inbound emails and initiate outbound email correspondence as needed.
    • Maintains internal DSA student database and related spreadsheets.
    • Assists with creation and maintenance of DSA related trainings for constituencies across the institution.
    • Provides assistance to students who may experience technical problems within our campus environment.
    • Assists with quarterly publications (University catalog and student handbook) as needed per the direction of the director.
    • Works with students, staff and faculty to resolve student issues in a positive and collaborative manner.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands:
    • Standard office environment in Manassas, VA.
    • Occasional Travel to Charles Town, WV.
    • Ability to telecommute.
    • Shift work schedules based upon department need, Monday-Friday, afternoon, evenings and weekends.



    Requirements:
    Required Skills:
    • Understanding of higher education organization.
    • Ability to work under pressure, within deadlines, and independently.
    • Understanding of online learning structure and purpose.
    • Understanding of student development and learning.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communications skills (including editing experience)
    • Proficiency in microsoft outlook, word, and excel.
    • Strong analytical, organizational and administrative skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and meet department service level agreements.
    • Understanding on contacts (types and levels internal and external).

    Required Experience:

    • Bachelors Degree required.
    • Previous experience advising or coaching students preferred.
    • Prior experience in a registrars office or other academic environment preferred.
    • Strong customer service background preferred.
    • Experience with content management systems preferred.
