Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine has an immediate opening in the Department of Family and Community Medicine for a full time, employed Family Practice Physician. This position will be a part of a new Rural Residency Track located in Elko, NV and will work full time in our brand new clinic. Duties may include research and scholarly activities, direct inpatient and outpatient clinical care in all aspects of family medicine, preferably with obstetrical care and /or care of the patient in a rural setting. In addition, we will be operating Telemedicine between Elko, Reno and surrounding rural areas and prior experience in Telemedicine is preferred. Teaching will be required and will include supervision of medical students, 2nd and 3rd year residents in both inpatient and outpatient's settings. The percent of time devoted to clinical care, teaching, and mentoring of trainees will be negotiated with the Department Chair. Family Medicine is a collegial and family centered department with numerous opportunities for growth and leadership.

Specific responsibilities will include the following:
Direct patient care in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
Promote and facilitate value-based practice operations, including, but not limited to, Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) operations
Assist in teaching of medical students, residents and students in other healthcare fields in the Family Medical Center, other ambulatory care settings, and on the department's hospital service
Serve on applicable Departmental, University Affiliated Hospitals and Community Committees as assigned.
Participate in the on-call schedule for the hospital inpatient service.
This position will be required to work and live in Elko, NV

Required Qualifications
MD/DO and successful completion of an approved family medicine residency training program. Demonstrated experience in the teaching of students and house staff. Ability to obtain a Medical license in the State of Nevada. Candidates must be Board certified or Board eligible in Family Medicine.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated Community Service and record of teaching excellence, as well as ability to work cooperatively and collegially with a diverse environment, with demonstrated experience mentoring women, minorities, students with disabilities and other under-represented groups. Experience in program resident operations is desirable.
