Job Description:
The School of Health Education at Madison College have an opening for a Full Time Instructor in their Dental Hygiene Program for the Fall of 2019 semester. A tentative schedule for the interview process is as follows:
- Round One interviews begins week of July 29th
- Round Two interviews begin week of August 5th
- Final Round to be scheduled shortly after
We are anticipating an offer to be made in early August for the individual to start before the Fall Semester begins!

ORGANIZATIONAL FUNCTION AND RELATIONSHIPS:
To instruct adult students in Dental Hygiene at the vocational, associate degree and college transfer credit levels. Instructors develop instructional strategies and curriculum as a regular part of their work, and are encouraged to serve on committees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Instructs students in the Dental Hygiene program including but not limited to the following courses: Dental Hygiene Process 1, Dental Hygiene Process 3 and 4, Pathology, Pharmacology, Dental Health Safety, Dental Radiography, Community Dental Health, Clinic 1, 2 and 3
  • Develops and plans appropriate instructional strategies, including alternative delivery strategies when appropriate including but not limited to hybrid, face-to-face and on-line course delivery.
  • Assists and advises students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
  • Evaluates student performance and provides regular feedback in courses taught by the instructor.
  • Actively works with other personnel to develop strategies for student recruitment, retention, and success. This includes developing strategies aimed at the recruitment and retention of minority (including male) students.
  • Develops and maintains curriculum in a variety of non-traditional formats to meet student delivery needs in collaboration with department/ division staff; participates in instructional and curriculum articulation activities with other programs and other divisions of instruction.
  • Complies with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and academic advising, etc.
  • Assists students in developing work experience assignments such as internships, work study assignments, team projects, etc.
  • Maintains certification as an instructor with the Wisconsin Technical College System. Maintains Wisconsin licensure in Dental Hygiene, CPR certification.
  • Complies with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Attends center, department and advisory program meetings.
  • Participates in appropriate staff development activities such as diversity awareness, technology training, etc. Demonstrates a commitment to the college values of excellence, respect and integrity.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS
  • Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation and collaborative techniques and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender and disability.
  • Skill in use of technology and alternative delivery methods.
  • Knowledge and ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery.
  • Skill in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds and persons with physical and/or learning disabilities.
  • Skill in oral and written communications. Ability to interact with business and industry to establish cooperative partnerships. Ability to adapt to new and emerging technologies and incorporate them into the curriculum.
  • Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including the use of distance education and other alternative flexible delivery methods.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to area of assignment..
AND
Two (2) years (4000 hours) of related work experience in a position in which a student would logically work after graduation from the program.
Must have all of the following:
  • Hold State of Wisconsin Dental Hygiene license (RDH)
  • Hold a current CPR certification for Healthcare Professionals
  • Hold a current certificate to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide
Teaching experience in Dental Hygiene is preferred.
