Basic Function:
WPI's office of Talent, Inclusion and Human Resources is seeking to hire an HRIS & Data Analyst with responsibility for the development, implementation and integration of information systems that support the day to day operations of our team. The HRIS & Data Analyst will serve as the technical point-of-contact for end users, ensures data integrity, tests system changes and upgrades, writes and run reports, analyzes data flow for process improvement opportunities, and helps to coordinate HRIS project activities. This is a temporary, 10-month assignment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes HR reporting requirements; develops specifications for data structure to support distributed reporting; develops selected reports; promotes the development of self-service reporting within HR.
  • Assists functional users with the development and refinement of essential reports.
  • Acts as a functional steward of relevant data, working collaboratively to ensure a high level of data integrity.
  • Articulates and promotes best practices regarding data management and usage within the HR Department, including refining business processes and configuring and testing software to support improved processes.
  • Creates project plans and/or test plans for software upgrades or implementations.
  • Facilitates strong working relationships. Work with appropriate parties within HR, IT, Finance, Payroll and other relevant departments to define, develop and deliver robust and well-supported data integrations between relevant systems.

    Position Requirements

  • Required and Preferred Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Computer Science, IT or business related field and five years of appropriate experience.
  • Experience using Ellucian Banner and PeopleAdmin, or similar HRIS and applicant tracking software.
  • Experience writing and developing complex routine and ad-hoc reports.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Argos Report Writer, including the development of data blocks
  • Familiarity with Workday is a plus
  • Experience in a higher education
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated understanding of HR processes and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement technical strategies to support objectives
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Ability to analyze and interpret work processes, recommend improvements to processes, and provide training on those processes.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, organize and present technical information in a meaningful manner to both end users and technical personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task while still meeting deadlines
  • Strong customer service mentality
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations relating to human resources management.
  • Knowledge of relational database structure and concepts.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous high priority projects accurately and on time.
  • Strong research, analytical and technical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in project management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
