Job Description:
1. Provide to Athletics Director on competitive analysis summary form:
a. Annual Goals related to: (a.) competitive goals, (b.) academic goals (team GPA, graduation expectations, ASR rate, etc.) and (c.) a copy of team rules signed by each member of the roster.

2. Select your team's representatives to the Department's Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC). Your selections should be upperclassmen & leaders. Require them to attend meetings. Ensure they update your team on initiatives.

3. Serve as a primary role model for sportsmanship-like behavior and good conduct. Resolve sportsmanship and conduct issues as they occur, ensuring the athletics director is made aware of potential issues.

4. Ensure that protocols are in place to best ensure that NCAA recruiting rules are followed:
a. appropriate behavior are followed during all on-campus, recruiting visits. No bars/alcohol/strippers, etc.
b. Coaches must pass NCAA recruiting test and complete practice & recruiting records at least MONTHLY.

5. Share any potential violations of UNCP, PBC, MEC, or NCAA policies or potential violations of the law in accordance with reporting authority guidelines. Share applicably with the compliance officer & Athletics Director immediately, discuss recommended remedial actions you wish to pursue.

6. IMPORTANT: Review with your team the Student Athlete Code of Conduct & Team Rules at the beginning of each school year when Compliance reviews materials with them. Record when that occurred.

7. Provide your written personal feedback of support services to the Athletics Director at the end of the academic year.

8. Ensure student athletes attend mandated, team-related functions sponsored by Athletics (ie: Welcome Back Event, Liability Training Sessions, Golden Braves). You will receive ample notice.

9. Develop competition schedules and coordinate travel in conjunction with the Athletics Director. Avoid home conflicts when possible. During travel, Head Coach is responsible for all student-athletes under their care until return to campus.

10. Review annual budgets in conjunction with the Athletics Director and Financial Manager. Appoint a udget manager on your staff, if desired, to keep track of monthly budget variance reporting. Ensure budgets are not overspent, unless approved ahead of time for extraordinary reasons. Head Coaches are the final authority for their respective teams financial outcomes. Overages will be debited from restricted account.

11. Ensure that student-athletes who are not attending class are corrected and disciplined. Involve parents/guardians when appropriate and helpful. Inform the Athletics Director when these issues occur with any frequency.

12. Support the Braves Club fundraising initiatives, when asked.

13. Chair searches for all assistant coach hires in consultation with Athletics Director.

14. Nominate student athletes for various departmental, University, conference, state and national awards of all kinds (competitive, academic and service-related) through media relations.

15. Call on administrators for assistance and direction at any time. We are here to help you and your team reach your full potential for optimal success. Keep the Athletics Director informed on all pertinent matters as they arise.

16. Schedule the annual student-athlete review of services meeting for the entire team with an administrator prior to spring finals. Ensure full roster participation including those discontinuing play. This is very important.

17. Provide Academic and other duties as outlined in your contract or as might be reasonably requested by UNC Pembroke.

Coaches Job Description:

Tasked with managing and overseeing all aspects related to the operations of the UNC Pembroke sport program. Will be responsible for all phases of coaching a Division II sport including: compliance, recruiting, budget management, academic and athletic outcomes, hiring and supervising assistant coaches, and interaction with campus and community constituent groups. Additional duties include program management, fund-raising, planning and scheduling practices, facility set-up, games, transportation, meals and public relations. Additional administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Section 1: Academic Evaluation Criteria for Coaches:
1. All coaches will teach the equivalent of 6 credit hours per semester.
2. Any and all KINESIOLOGY/Athletic Administrator(s) class/athletic observation(s);
3. Reappointment conference with both the KINESIOLOGY Dept Chair and Athletic Director.

Section 2: NCAA Evaluation of Coaches:
A coach who is found in violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective actions as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures. Furthermore, a coach may be suspended for a period of time, without pay, or employment terminated if the coach is found to be involved in any negligent or deliberate or serious violation of NCAA regulations.

Section 3: Evaluation Criteria for student Academic Advisement:
1. The primary purpose of Study Hall is to assist UNC Pembroke students with providing an academic environment conducive to study, thereby giving rise to academic success. Study hall is open and encouraged for all UNCP students and is required for specific populations (ie: academic probation status, select student-athletes, various academic or social clubs). Athletics coaches will be assigned to administer evening study hall sessions throughout the fall and spring semester. During study hall, coaches will ensure a conducive environment for study for all participants, ensure attendees swipe their BraveCard in and out of the study hall session, and connect students with applicable resources on an as needed and requested basis. Where applicable, coaches can provide career workshops and/or assist with academic outreach efforts coordinated via the center for student success.
2. Study Hall hours administered by Coaches are subject to change based on campus need but forecasted as Sunday 3pm-6pm, and Monday-Thursday 5pm-8pm.
3. Study Hall coordination includes monitoring attendance and conduct while assisting students with being connected with other Center for Student Success resources like the Writing Center, Tutoring opportunities, and Tutor.com resources.
