Job Summary/Basic Function:
POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION:
Provides general telephone and counter assistance for employees and customers for Lamar University. Provides administrative support within the Human Resources Department. This position will be the first point of contact for the HR building.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Work involves document review and verification for I-9 process, e-Verify, employment verifications and background checks, greeting and directing callers and walk-in visitors to appropriate staff, responding to routine inquiries, and providing daily mail courier service for the department.

Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Related college level courses a plus.
Two years of full-time experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of general office practices and
procedures and use of office equipment.
Knowledge of records management.
Knowledge of spelling, punctuation,
grammar, and arithmetic.
Communication skills to support a friendly,
helpful demeanor, good listening skills and
ability to provide clear instructions in
writing or verbally.
Skill in detecting and resolving errors.
Reliable and responsible with regard to
attendance, punctuality and ability to meet
deadlines
