Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is recruiting for a Laboratory Technician 1 for the Physiology and Cell Biology Department. ***This position does not offer layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. The position will assist the Gould Lab in its funded research projects. Other duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining the genotype of mice; organizing and culling mice; performing basic molecular biology and immunohistochemical techniques; performing basic mouse surgeries and dissections; training and supervising undergraduate volunteers; creating, managing, and sorting data; organizing files and records; and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of laboratory experience performing various laboratory procedures; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with a Bachelors degree in a science related field are encouraged to apply.

Schedule
The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
