The Ithaca College Department of Physics and Astronomy invite applications for one Postdoctoral Fellowship for Faculty Diversity to begin August 16, 2018. This is a two year, non-tenure eligible position. The fellowship supports promising scholars who are committed to diversity in the academy and will prepare them for tenure track appointments within liberal arts or comprehensive colleges/universities.

The teaching responsibilities of the Fellow is two courses each semester in an area that matches the Fellow's area of expertise. The Fellow will work closely with other faculty in their department, receiving mentorship in teaching and research in preparation for their future independent academic career. Diverse professional development opportunities are available to support the career goals of the Postdoctoral Fellow at Ithaca College.

The Fellow will receive a $50,000 stipend, $5,000 in travel/professional development support, relocation reimbursement, office space, and health benefits.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an accredited program in a field appropriate for the desired research area. Evidence of superior academic achievement and commitment to a career in teaching at the college or university level is required.

Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to teach in ways that acknowledge and value the varied learning styles and interests of a culturally diverse student population, reflecting a commitment to encouraging the success of all students.

We also seek candidates who have relevant experience and/or a record of professional engagement with groups and communities underrepresented in the academy.

Fellows who show an exemplary record of teaching and scholarship and engagement in academic service throughout their fellowship may be considered as candidates for tenure-eligible appointments anticipated to begin in the Fall of 2020.
