Opportunity:

The Tufts University School of Medicine's Department of Public Health and Community Medicine invites applications for a full-time, 12-month non-tenured faculty appointment at the level of Associate or Professor to serve as the Program Director for our Public Health Program.

Background:

The public health program is situated in the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA and offers both on-campus and fully online Master of Public Health (MPH) options with approximately 400 currently matriculated students. We focus on preparing students for careers in public health practice, as well as supporting our partner institutions and host communities in public health education, research, and service locally and globally. We recently completed a curricular revamping of our core classes to explicitly focus on achieving health equity and acknowledging the role of racism in exacerbating health disparities in communities of color. With a long-standing, deep commitment to health equity and justice, we have emphasized the cross-training of other professionals and therefore offer multiple combined degree programs with public health. Our unique MD/MPH program is conducted concurrently with the School of Medicine curriculum.

The Department benefits from excellent graduate students, collaborative faculty, and cross-disciplinary research opportunities. Tufts University supports and encourages a culture of interdisciplinary scholarship, and there are numerous such opportunities within the School of Medicine, Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, and our Clinical and Translational Science Institute, whose network comprises 40 medical, academic, industry, & community partners and collaborators. The Department of Public Health and Community Medicine has grown substantially in the past several years both in diversity and focus. The Department recently launched an online Master of Science program in Health Informatics and Analytics, as well as an online Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

  • Contribute to the service mission of the school through involvement in community-engaged initiatives.
