Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) invites applications for the position of Senior Associate Dean for Research (SADR). The SADR is responsible for leading and growing all research programs at UNR Med including basic, clinical and translational research. The SADR will be accountable for growth and diversification of UNR Med's total research portfolio. We have over $23 million in current external research funding and nearly $60 million in multi-year, NIH grants. This is an exceptional opportunity for an established researcher with dynamic leadership experience to contribute their talents to the school, the community and the field of medicine.

The SADR reports directly to the Dean, is a member of the Dean's Cabinet and represents the School of Medicine at the state, national and international levels. This position will have a key role in leadership, accreditation and strategic planning. The successful candidate should be an established researcher with an outstanding academic background and track record of bio-medical research. There will be an opportunity for the SADR to recruit an additional research leader, likely an Associate Dean for Clinical and Translational Research. This candidate must have exemplary leadership skills, administrative and interpersonal experience and the ability to work across multiple disciplines and with multiple external partners to affect change. This is a dynamic career opportunity for an energetic leader to develop cutting edge, high quality programs in basic, clinical and translational research and education.

Required Qualifications
Ph.D required, Ph.D/M.D desirable but not required. Strong research and scholarly credentials including substantial current or recent externally-funded grants. Significant administrative and leadership experience in academic health science and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with numerous partners.

Preferred Qualifications
-Experience in clinical translational research
