Position Status: Administrative Exempt Positions

Basic Function:
The Software Systems Integrator assists in the inclusion of new systems and applications in the WPI IT environment, ensuring the integration of new applications into existing network infrastructure, systems and software throughout the university.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation of new systems and applications, ensuring their integration with selected existing systems

Provide the analysis and technical expertise needed to integrate complex software and services

Determine appropriate systems configuration settings for integrations

Ensure accurate and efficient processing and data flow between systems

Collaborate with IT staff colleagues, end users, and vendors in the testing of new software programs and applications

Implement policies, procedures, and technologies (including firewalls) to ensure system security through secure system access, monitoring, control, and routine security evaluations

Develop and implement strategies for integrating disparate operating system environments, including integrations of premises-based and cloud-based systems

Provide documentation related to interface development, implementation, and operations

Position Requirements

Bachelors degree in computer science or similar engineering field and 3-5 years experience

Proficient with a variety of programing languages, including XHTML, Java, HTML, C++ and Python

Knowledge about various architectures and protocols such as MOM, XSLT, SOA, UDDI, EDA, REST, XML, FTP, WSDL, and SOAP

Expert knowledge about secure transmissions, digital certificated, and PKI

Strong experience with data architecture and application architecture

Experience with data mapping structures, data flow diagrams and data definitions to be used in the development, modification and enhancement of system integrations

Excellent written and oral communication skills along with analytical and organizational skills

Knowledge of ITSM protocols
