Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Statewide Newborn Screening Program Coordinator for the Nevada State Public Health Laboratory. The coordinator serves the entire state of Nevada by providing affected infant tracking, diagnosed baby's case management, clinician guidance, parent education and assures infant follow-up care/life-saving treatment. Other duties include, but are not limited to, 1) providing follow-up services including abnormal result notification; 2) tracking of clinician and parent interactions and compliance with stated directives; 3) protocols/scheduling of further newborn testing; 4) providing education and guidance to healthcare providers; 5) linking primary care providers to expert consultants 24/7; and , 6) supports the efforts to confirm a newborn screening condition diagnosis. The position with assure short-term follow-up treatment for any infant testing positive for >55 inherited conditions screened by the Nevada Newborn Screening Program; works as a team member with newborn screening laboratory staff; coordinates patient care with physicians, key hospital staff, Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU), clinics, parents and outpatient laboratory personnel; documents all case management activities; obtains confirmatory diagnosis and assures lifesaving and/or prevention of debilitating defects by coordinating expeditious treatment of an affected infant. The position will coordinate quarterly newborn screening advisory council meetings and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
A Bachelors and 4 years of experience OR a Master's and 2 years of experience.
Related Experience: public health, genetics, pediatric nursing and/or newborn screening case management

A Registered Nurse (RN) or a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license is required for this position.

Travel Requirements
Occasional travel to Nevada client locations is required.
