Student Services Manager (Director of Student Services and Engagement)

Penn State Greater Allegheny in McKeesport, PA, a residential campus serving students from local, national and international communities seeks a Director of Student Services and Engagement to provide strategic direction, oversight, and operational management for the Student Services Department which holds responsibility for student activities, student health services, student counseling services, student government, judicial affairs, conduct standards, and campus climate. The successful candidate will engage with Housing and Food Service in the supervision of residential living experiences, demonstrate advanced skills in budget management, business development, communications, leadership, and execution of objectives critical to campus success. Will serve as key member of campus senior leadership team engaged in strategic planning, decision making, policy development, enforcement, and problem solving for campus-wide issues; leading campus efforts related to behavioral threat management, early intervention, Title IX resources, campus climate, and the allocation of student fees. Develop, implement, and evaluate student service and engagement policies and procedures. Work in collaboration with various academic and support units to plan, develop, coordinate, and deliver student programs and services that assist all students in the successful completion of their academic goals and actively engages them in out of class experiences. Evaluate and support student engagement programs and initiatives that promote strong commitment to inclusionary practices reinforcing diversity, transparency, safety, and environmental consciousness throughout the University. Lead efforts to promote and maintain a welcoming, inclusive, accessible, and supportive curricular and co-curricular campus learning environment. Foster a climate of proactive engagement and collaboration between students, faculty, staff, and local community. Actively support service-related learning opportunities which bring together students, staff, and local community. Serve on various campus and/or University-wide committees. Serve as the administrative advocate for the welfare of students. Advise student government association and provides leadership guidance for student initiatives. Demonstrate sound judgment by considering Penn State values, risks, impacts, and implications throughout the University. Resolve complex, controversial, and sensitive issues and problems involving students. Direct the management of and response to student crisis situations. Oversee performance management, coaching, and professional development of staff and holds staff accountable for work performance and goal achievement. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2018.
