Qualifications:

Required: Earned doctorate in Education or a related field. Professional record at a level commensurate with tenure and advanced rank (associate or full), which includes an active record of scholarship in field of expertise, demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level, and institutional or community service.

Preferred: Experience leading a self-governing academic organization. Demonstrated record of program development within a college or university and in the broader K-12 community. Experience with California and/or national accreditation. Research experience relevant to K-12 public schools, including but not limited to multicultural education, teacher education, and/or teacher professional development. Experience teaching in public K-12 classrooms with culturally and linguistically diverse students and/or preparing teachers to work in such contexts. Demonstrated ability to seek and secure grant funding.

The Department of Teacher Education is especially interested in candidates whose research and scholarship focus is in areas of social justice; teaching in culturally and linguistically diverse settings; program development and school and community partnerships; and educational reforms serving low-income communities.

Responsibilities:
Chair the Department of Teacher Education. Participate in developing school/university partnerships. Participate in and take a leadership role in shared governance through Department, College, and University committee service, and in curriculum/program support and development. Manage activities related to program accreditation. Maintain scholarly activities commensurate with the position, including participation in scholarly associations at the regional, state, and national levels. Address the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language, and academic preparation.

Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Starting Date: August 1, 2017
