New York Tech College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Technical Support Specialist for the Long Island, NY (Old Westbury) campus.
Responsibilities
  • Promotes HIVE's services, and conduct workshops, seminars, presentations and trains students, faculty and staff to support the equipment use related to 3D printing, laser cutting, and VR/AR
  • Works with the full-time and adjunct faculty to identify tech support needs for each class;
  • Staffs the HIVE by requiring available GAs, student employees, and GRA's.
  • Ensures labs are set up and all equipment are operational for the academic year and according to the safety regulations.
  • Creates and maintains an online inventory list.
  • Develops and maintains an equipment checkout system (tablets, cameras, oculus etc)
  • Develops manuals that explain the operation of the equipment
  • Troubleshoots small issues that occur on a daily basis, and involves IT experts if needed
  • Brings necessary repairs and updates to the IT's attention.
  • Keeps track and updates the software image, and works collaboratively with New York Tech's IT department to communicates the department's current and future needs and insure the software image meets New York Tech's network security requirements.
  • Participates in the department's Technology Committee meetings, and joins meetings with the IT department, as needed. Works with the administrative specialist to purchase equipment and supplies for the academic year.
  • Becomes familiar with more applications and hardware on the job, as needed
Qualifications
BFA or related Bachelor's degree is required. Experience in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Digital Design, Animation, Motion Graphics, 3D Printing is preferred.

Must have experience with CGI, 3D printing 3D scanning, and MoCap software and hardware.

Experience in Digital Art Studio Maintenance and experience with Managing Budgets and inventory system is preferred.

Good interpersonal and communication skills is required.
