The Technical Writer/ Training & Development Specialist will be responsible for producing high-quality documentation and communications, and will help in training and educating end users at WPI. Working within the Information Technology division, this position will contribute to the overall success of WPI's Enterprise Transformation initiative. This position will collaborate with all departments to produce high quality documentation and training that provides new and current employees with an overall understanding of Workday and other Enterprise Transformation initiatives. This position will work closely with the Change Manager and PMO Office to determine training objectives and to develop documentation that accurately reflects operational procedures. Based on this documentation, this individual will create training content and visual aids to deliver high quality, on-site classroom and hands on training.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the development of training material and communications on WPIs Enterprise Transformation initiative, which includes the implementation of Workday, Identity & Access Management, Data & Information Management and e-Projects.
    Revises technical manuals and datasheets as needed for Workday and other applications.
    Collaborates with Change Manager and other members of IT to deliver relevant, easy to use training materials via multiple modalities.
    Under the direction of the Change Manager, plans, implements and delivers trainings and communications.

    Position Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree.
    1-3 years of experience writing end-user technical documentation for a wide range of audiences.
    Ability to own complex documentation projects with minimal supervision.
    Great people and communication skills, and a desire to interact directly with end users.
    Proven ability to write for general audiences, as well as more traditional technical audiences.
    Strong content strategy skills with an emphasis on whats best for the user.
    Focus on quality and details and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
    Excellent problem solver and strong team player.
