Theatre Instructor - Professional Acting
Allan Hancock College is accepting applications to establish a pool of qualified candidates for part-time Theatre Instructors in Professional Acting for future openings at all campus locations (Santa Maria Campus, Lompoc Valley Center, Solvang Center).

QUALIFICATIONS
Master's or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance
OR
Bachelors or Bachelors of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance
AND
Master's in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature or humanities
OR
the equivalent per Board Policy 7211.

SALARY
Lecture Rate: $46.98 to $71.93 per hour depending upon education and experience
Lab Rate: $40.91 to $62.63 per hour depending upon education and experience
Activity Rate: $30.23 to $47.18 per hour depending upon education and experience

Working knowledge of all aspects of the theater process; design, technical craft, production practices and performance.
Experience with computers and theatrical design.
An educational philosophy which places the primary emphasis on student learning (versus other academic research/scholarship) in the design, delivery and evaluation of courses.
Demonstrated ability to work with and assist students having a wide range of skills, motivation, and academic or vocational goals.
Demonstrated understanding of various learning styles as demonstrated in the development of course materials and assessments of student learning. Knowledge of skills to match learners, technologies, and instructional support.
Demonstrated commitment to appropriate integration of new technologies into the learning process.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and present lecture material and to develop and use resource materials.
Demonstrated experience successfully initiating, executing and following through on projects; including the ability to set specific objectives and measure achieved results.
Special qualification - Evidence of sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and to staff and students with physical, learning and psychological disabilities.

SELECTION PROCESS
A committee will review applications. Meeting minimum qualifications does not assure a candidate an interview. Therefore, it is important that the application be thorough and detailed. Applicants will be assessed on the breadth and depth of education, training, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities. A limited number of applicants will be invited for an interview at the college at their own expense. Interviewed candidates may be asked to present a short teaching demonstration. Final candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
