POSITION SUMMARY:

The Video and Photo Specialist (Specialist) is responsible for the creation of videos and photos that promote and market the Community College of Aurora (CCA) and all it has to offer. The Specialist is adept at creating short-form videos that inspire people to learn more about the college's programs, support services, scholarship opportunities, and on-campus events. This person is also highly skilled at taking professional-grade photos, including headshots and lifestyle shots. The division of duties will vary, but the Specialist will likely spend close to 70% of their time on video projects and 30% on photo activities.

The Specialist is a highly motivated self-starter capable of managing multiple projects, pushing through challenges and obstacles, meeting deadlines, providing superior customer service, and working collaboratively with faculty and staff from different departments across the college. This is a three-quarter-time position with full benefits.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as CCA's primary videographer, editor, producer, and photographer for college marketing initiatives such as commercials, program promotional videos, video blogs, social media initiatives, and digital and traditional marketing and advertising campaigns
  • Record and/or photograph some college events (requires working some nights and weekends)
  • Use various media including graphics, animations, data visualizations, music, voiceovers, PowerPoint slides, and photos to condense complex college processes into brief, enjoyable explainer videos
  • Export videos to be compatible for many different uses (e.g., on the CCA website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and in movie theaters)
  • Maintain an internal video and photo library as well as CCA's video library on YouTube
  • Keep current with trends in film, video, audio, photography, graphics, and animation
  • Provide superior customer service to constituents, form partnerships with employees across functional areas, and work collaboratively with the Communications and Marketing team
  • Participate in Communications and Marketing team meetings
  • Increase job skills regularly through classes, professional development seminars, webinars, and meetings of professional organizations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications
  • A linkto a portfolio that includes videos you have createdand photos you have taken must be listed on your resume
  • Bachelor's degree (can substitute high-level work experience on year-for-year basis)
  • Demonstrated experience using the Adobe Creative Cloud applications, especially Premiere and Photoshop
  • 2+ years' experience as a videographer and photographer
  • Ability to take professional-grade photos, including headshots and lifestyle shots
  • Excellent communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • High level of creativity
  • Highly motivated/self-starter

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using drones to capture videos and photos
  • Experience using such video-editing techniques as jump cuts, invisible cuts, and hyper-lapses
  • Audio post-production experience (e.g., noise filtering, compression/expansion, leveling, normalization)
  • Strong technical knowledge of computers and digital media
  • Demonstrated interest in, and understanding of, the mission of two-year colleges
  • Marketing experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
