About the Opportunity

Summary:

Event Management at Northeastern University is currently seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Technical Coordinator, Lighting for major event venues. The Tech Coordinator, Lighting supports the Event Management team by performing lighting board programming and operation, assisting with daily venue operations, maintaining lighting and other AV systems, advising individual technicians, and fostering relationships with clients and colleagues to ensure successful events.

Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Event Production and Technology, this position will also assist in all areas of support related to major event venues across campus as well as providing supplemental support at times to the Associate Director of Event Operations.

This role is primarily event-based, requiring a flexible schedule that will include working some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. Otherwise this position would work Monday through Friday.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Extensive experience as a light board programmer/operator.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ETC Eos family lighting consoles.

  • Professional demeanor and excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with software commonly used in live production environments, especially QLab.

  • Experience with theatrical rigging.

  • Experience mixing live sound, operating cameras, and video switching.

    Responsibilities Include:
    • Coordinate with clients and technicians to meet production needs.
    • Serve as light board programmer/operator for rehearsals, performances, and events.
    • Participate in load-in and strike of productions.
    • Advise technicians and clients on capabilities of different types of technology.
    • Troubleshoot AV and lighting-related issues.
    • Provide initial and ongoing training for Media Service Technicians
    • Provide ongoing support to Media Service Technicians
    • Assist with recruitment and hiring of Media Service Technicians.
    • Develop and implement solutions to technical issues.
    • Perform regular upkeep on equipment.
    • Research and integrate emerging technology solutions.
