Assistant/Associate Professor of Counseling (full-time tenure track position)
The Counseling Department at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in Counselor Education. The appointment begins July, 2023, and includes teaching graduate courses in our MA in Mental Health Counseling (MAMHC), MA in Chaplaincy & Ministry Care (MACMC), and Master of Divinity (MDiv). Advising students, supervising fieldwork, engaging in scholarly activity and research, and providing service to the community, church and profession are expected.
QUALIFICATIONS:Desired qualifications include an earned doctorate (preferably by June 2024) in Counselor Education. Preference will be given to individuals with a degree from a CACREP-accredited program. Applicants must have work experience in mental health counseling, and should be eligible for licensure in Illinois. Evidence of effective teaching, an active research agenda and productivity, and an affiliation with the American Counseling Association are expected.ÂCandidates with theological seminary coursework in addition to the above qualifications are preferred. Faculty members at TEDS are required to give annual agreement with seminary policies and theEvangelical Free Church America (EFCA) statement of faith, articulating theological rational for any points of divergence from the EFCA statement of faith. Salary is commensurate with training, education, and experience.
DEPARTMENT:ÂOur MAMHC degree has been CACREP accredited since 2017. The Counseling Department helps strengthen Christian faith character virtues while establishing a professional counselor identity through stimulating reason, exploring interpersonal strengths, and stirring theological imagination. Our graduates apply faith-anchored wisdom to act justly, ethically, and, responsibly in one’s vocational context. The Counseling Department is one of several departments located within the divinity school of Trinity International University, whose programs are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and the Association of Theological Schools (ATS).
