JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Ramapo Nursing Programs Simulation Director and Assistant Dean in Charge of Nursing, this individual is responsible for the clinical education of generic nursing students.
For the Spring 2026 semester, we are seeking instructors for a maternal/child health clinical.
PAY: $70/hr.
Organizational Security Responsibilities: This position requires adherence to the organization's information security policies and procedures. All employees share responsibility for protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization's mission essential IT assets, regardless of role. Individuals in this role are expected to apply appropriate safeguards, participate in required security awareness training, and promptly report potential security incidents in accordance with institutional policies.
Qualifications
Clinical supervision of the assigned group(s) of students in the clinical and laboratory settings. This supervision shall include but is not limited to the following:
- Prepare appropriate plans, materials, and learning activities for students to achieve the learning outcomes of each class.
- Orient students to the clinical unit.
- Select appropriate learning experiences for the assigned student group(s), i.e., client/patient assignments and planning clinical conferences.
- Observation of the students' performance, guidance of the students' performance, review of procedures and principles as necessary, on-the-spot instruction as appropriate.
- Evaluation of students' clinical performance on a weekly basis and verbally, as needed, on an individual basis, including written feedback on but not limited to the following:
- Care plans
- Specialty rotation papers (when assigned)
- Research projects (when assigned)
- Medication cards, concept maps
- Documenting clinical observations and/or any appropriate incidents which may occur during the clinical experience.
- Consulting with students individually and/or in groups to: review and/or evaluate progression towards clinical outcomes and identify teaching strategies that could be reinforced or adjusted.
- Plans and conducts pre and post conferences.
- Maintain a cooperative, positive relationship with the staff on any unit of the healthcare facility assigned to facilitate the optimum learning environment for the students.
- Maintain effective, on-going communication with the Course Coordinator concerning student progress and/or concerns.
Required Education:
Required Experience:
- Previous experience required
- Minimum of 4 years of nursing experience with a specialty or practice in medical-surgical nursing, psychiatric nursing, and/or maternal/child nursing.
- Previous nursing education experience.
- Knowledge of professional nursing curricula
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
- Ability to lead professional teams with diverse educational backgrounds
- Professional certification in nursing
