Employees of WCU are provided a comprehensive benefits package as well as other resources, policies and programs to ensure a happy and healthy work/life balance. We are recruiting faculty for several positions in Civil Engineering (or closely related fields) at the assistant and associate professor ranks to join us as we enter this transformational time at WCU. Faculty are routinely expected to teach in multiple topical areas at undergraduate and graduate levels. Faculty candidates with teaching and research expertise in one or more of the following:

The openings are nine-month tenure/tenure-track positions, with additional summer opportunities for research, teaching, and other professional endeavors. Rank will be determined at the point of hire. The anticipated start date is August 2026.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise students, be involved in extra-curricular student engagement activities, develop a sustainable program of research and scholarship, and be engaged in university and professional service. Faculty pursue scholarship and research with external partners and with clients through our nationally recognized Rapid Center. Applied research that engages students, especially undergraduate students, is a hallmark of our program.

Candidates should have a strong commitment to contribute to the intellectual and practical lives of students and other stakeholders of the School, College, University, and Construction Industry.

Possess an earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, environmental engineering, architectural engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution by August 1, 2026.
