About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
The Temporary Mental Health Triage Clinician's primary responsibility is to provide short-term therapeutic intervention for Northeastern students who seek same day or urgent mental health support at University Health and Counseling Services. These services will include psychological evaluation, crisis intervention and brief psychotherapy intervention. The Temp Triage Clinician will also provide follow-up support to students with acute needs and may have the opportunity to facilitate a support group. The position may also involve case management, outreach activities to the Northeastern University community and collaboration with various support services within the University. The clinician will be responsible for making appropriate referrals for psychopharmacological evaluation and external ongoing counseling, and for referral to emergency mental health services, when appropriate. Time spent amongst the various clinical service activities may shift in proportion to changes in service demands at any given time of the year. The clinician will often work closely with University academic departments and Student Affairs, and will collaborate with medical clinicians at the UHCS as appropriate, all in the interest of providing the best possible team-oriented health care to Northeastern students.

Monday: 9AM - 5PM
Tuesday: 12 PM -8:00PM
Wednesday: 9 AM - 5PM
Thursday: 12 PM - 8:00 PM
Friday: 9 AM - 5 PM
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Direct Triage Support: Provide direct triage support and assessment, follow-up counseling support, crisis intervention, disposition assignment, case management and documentation, and campus and community referrals.
- Consultation, outreach and committee work: Provide psycho educational programming and outreach to the University community.
- Direct Clinical Services (non-triage): Provide direct clinical services including follow-up care, group counseling, case management and documentation, and campus and community referrals.
- In service and Interdisciplinary Supervision: Participate in training and supervision to and from other Mental health and Medical Staff, as appropriate
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A master's degree in social work or counseling, with Massachusetts license or eligibility, is required
- Strongly preferred 2+ years' experience and competency in urgent and crisis assessment and treatment, short-term psychotherapy, treatment of alcohol/drug abuse, working with adolescents and college-aged clientele, demonstrated success in working effectively in an interdisciplinary team setting, and must work exceptionally well with students identifying as BIPOC, LGBTQ students, international students, and other under-represented students and communities on campus
- Must have a sophisticated understanding of how intersectionality, privilege, and socioeconomic status relate to the mental health of a global student community.
