Postdoc Research Fellow

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Internet of Materials (IoM) and human-computer interaction area. While direct reporting will be to Professor Abowd, the position will interact regularly with a collection of faculty, postdocs, and students connected to the IoM effort. You will participate in leading the IoM research community and direct students in collaborative research in this area.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Assist the project P.I. in completing various research tasks and project reports, and meeting technical requirements and deadlines;
  • Disseminate research results at national/international conferences and peer-reviewed journal papers;
  • Mentor and train graduate or undergraduate students for research


Qualifications:

PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Strong academic record with publications and presentations at top-tier systems conferences and/or journals.
  • Excellent oral and writing English communication skills.
  • A qualified candidate will have expertise and interest in prototyping hardware/software systems. Interest and experience in exploring novel materials for computation is desirable, but at a minimum the candidate should be willing to explore this area and connect it to prototyping and the development of tools to democratize the building of IoM and computational materials.
  • Research experience in one or more of the following areas: Ubiquitous Computing, Human-Computer Interaction, IoT, materials for computation, maker/DIY for computing


Preferred Qualifications: Candidate should be enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and collaboratively.

Additional Information: This is a two-year, full-time appointment, with the possibility of extension.
