Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information
With an enrollment of over 1300 students, The Kennesaw State University School of Art and Design provides a rigorous education, offering a BFA degree in Art (concentrations in Art Education, Art History, Ceramics, Comics and Sequential Art, Graphic Communications, Illustration, Painting and Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Textiles and Surface Design), and a BFA in Digital Animation. The School offers an MA in Art and Design that is a 100% online degree with tracks in Art Education, Digital Animation, and Museum Studies. Our facilities provide students with state-of-the-art resources. Our Chastain Pointe facility houses four large drawing and painting studios and an expansive printmaking area. 5 computer studios in the Visual Arts Building provide industry standard technology for our applied arts disciplines of Graphic Communications, Digital Animation, Illustration and Comics and Sequential Art. Textiles and Surface Design is our newest concentration in the BFA. The Textiles facilities are located on the Marietta campus and comprise approximately 8000 square feet of studio space.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Textiles faculty position in the School of Art & Design that begins August 2024.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be expected to teach introductory through advanced-level courses in Textiles and Surface Design on a regular rotation. Other responsibilities include:
  • Teach a range of undergraduate courses in the Textiles and Surface Design program. Use both traditional and digital illustration techniques to provide a broad range of working experiences to our students.
  • Further develop the curriculum within Textiles and Surface Design.
  • Mentor undergraduate students.
  • Actively engage in creative endeavors, and/or scholarly activities.
  • Participation in usual departmental activities, course development, and to serve on departmental and university committees as assigned.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • A Terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Textiles or a related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites.


Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate should have expertise in fibers, yarns and textile materials including design, development, structure, and technology in academic and/or industrial environments. The candidate should possess industry experience and an established record of professional achievement. The following are also desirable qualifications:
  • Teaching experience at the university level
  • Experience in Sewing
  • Experience in Textile Design
  • Business acumen in fashion forecasting and trends.
  • Industry experience
  • Online teaching experience
  • Experience working with software relating to textiles programming.
